NAME: Annie

BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound.

BREED: Boxer x

BREED TRAITS: Boxers are intelligent with a high need for companionship and exercise, they are not happy if regularly left home alone. They are playful with an energetic personality, affectionate and loyal to their family forming strong bonds with their humans. Although strong and athletic they are gentle and patient with children making them excellent family dogs. Their protective nature also makes them good watch dogs.

ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, laidback, quiet, sweet and playful! She’s a very lovable girl and is a delight to have around.

FAVOURITE THINGS: Annie loves to get out and about for walks and car rides and plays well with the other dogs in her foster home. Her favourite game is tug of war with her rope toy. She’s very cuddly and will happily lap up all the attention she can get from her people.

ENDEARING FEATURES: She’s a very well-behaved girl and tilts her head to listen when you talk to her.

OTHER ANIMALS: Annie loves the company of other friendly dogs so could live with one in her new home. She could also live with a dog-savvy cat, after gentle, supervised introductions. She is being fostered with other dogs, some of them small, and a cat, and gets along with all of them. Annie cannot live with or near livestock as she has chased without aggression, but this behaviour is not to be encouraged.

GENERAL INFO: Annie walks well on her lead and is mostly housetrained but doesn’t like going out to toilet in the rain. She rarely barks, has a medium energy level and knows a few commands but would benefit from some ongoing training. Annie loves to please her humans and is a smart girl so training should be fun. Annie loves to interact or be near her humans so we think a home that has someone around most of the time would suit her really well.

ESSENTIALS for Annie:

** A loving home with someone who can be with her for a good part of the day or can take her with them when they go out.

** She will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve her in daily activities is essential for her.

** Annie needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.

**Annie needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.

**We would love Annie to have some well-structured training as she has missed out on the basic early foundation work. She is smart and deserves that commitment of time and input.

Annie could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 10 who will be able to read her signals and engage with her on a daily basis. She would be happy to be an only dog in her new home, but she would also love to be able to meet and play with other friendly dogs on a regular basis.
