About Maggie 🌻
Meet one of the most special girls we have ever rescued- our cuddly, beautiful Great Dane mix Maggie ❤️. Her past has been extremely sad and she deserves to be absolutely treated like a queen 👑
Cat friendly 🐈⬛
Dog friendly 🦮 but requires only dog home
Patient & Gentle with Kids 👩👧👦 (big girl with a happy tail though 😇)
Low-Moderate energy
Favourite pasttime; couch cuddles
Quiet Female only house preferred 💃
Maggie is beautiful inside and out; She loves a cuddle and a kiss and just wants to be wherever her person is, and she has the most amazing silky coat and the softest and floppiest ears 🥹 Maggie is an absolute cuddle bug, and her happiest place is with you on the couch.
We know Maggie hasn’t had much love in her past as she is very scared of Men/ new people. She is super cuddly once she warms to you and must be following you everywhere you go, whether that be laying on top of you or laying on the bathmat waiting for you to shower. Once you have her trust, you get all her love and trust us, there is sooo much!
Maggie is not aggressive towards other dogs and is not phased by them generally. Maggie has been well behaved with her foster sister 🐶 but does not seek her comfort or seem interested in playing. Maggie is more human focused and wants to be your one and only! We know Maggie would be happiest as the queen of the house and we would love to find her a home where she can be spoilt rotten and have all the love for herself as she has missed out on so much in the past. Maggie loves all little creatures however and a cat to snuggle and lick their ears would suit her just fine!
Maggie is the best of both worlds, she is a total couch potato and will laze around all day, but she is also super goofy and loves to be a little mischievous too! She will have you laughing constantly.
She loves all her toys so much and loves a good play session when she gets up in the morning.
Maggie’s most safe places are on the furniture. She feels comfortable and relaxed with her own spot on the couch up high where she can see all angles of the house clearly. Maggie will always need to be reminded she is safe and loved 🥺 so she must feel safe in her new home. If animals on the furniture aren’t for you and your house, then unfortunately Maggie isn’t for you.
Maggie is very food/ treat driven and will work very hard for your treats. This will be a great way to win her over with her initial nervousness around new people. This will also help with once you have her trust! As she is so full of love that sometimes her excitement takes over her manners and she can become a little jumpy. We are pretty heart warmed by seeing her so Comfortable and ready for love though 🥹
Maggie is very well behaved inside. She is fully toilet trained and waits patiently at the backdoor to be let out to go to the toilet.
Maggie is left inside whilst we are not home as that is where she is most comfortable. She lays in the loungeroom having a sleep while waiting for you to come home. She’s such a good girl ❤️
Maggie has adored her human foster siblings whilst in care and is very patient and gentle with them. She finds children to be very comforting and will happily give them a nighttime snuggle in bed if the opportunity arises. Maggie is a large breed dog however and is still learning her manners and not to jump when excited so large dog breed savvy children are a must. Maggies tail also resembles an actual whip so watch out! 🐶
Maggie is walking fantastic on a harness, and will benefit with some basic training and guidance to help her with her walking manners. Maggie is still quite afraid of the world and when out walking she doesn’t like to walk past any males and it is easier to cross sides of the road when possible to avoid Maggie panicking. You must always be alert currently while out walking and try and pick a quiet time of the day to do so.
Maggie has been through a lot in her short life already and as a result is absolutely terrified of men and unfamiliar people. A house without any males would be ideal for Maggie to let down her guard and really thrive. Maggie needs a very patient home that will understand that she will need time and space to feel comfortable enough to be the beautiful pup that she is.
In saying that, we believe it is still possible for Maggie to find a forever home with a male living there too however they must be very committed to slow introduction and give Maggie all the space she needs to initiate any interaction. Maggies Foster Dad has put in a tremendous effort over the last 6 weeks and is now able to give her a little pat on the couch most nights and feed her some treats. Maggie is still on edge however and must always keep eyes on him and she is most comfortable when her foster dad is on the floor interacting with her with a calm quiet voice.
No High vis clothing is a must for Maggie as it is obviously triggering to her and she gets extremely scared and has even hurt herself from trying to run away.
Once you meet this girl, you will know she is special. You won’t want to let her go and she’ll take all the hugs she can get. Now she knows what it is to be loved she can’t get enough. It has been extremely heart warming to watch this girl grow into a happy goofball. Whoever adopts her will be extremely lucky and absolutely adored by her.
If you can give Maggie the safe home with all the love she deserves, please get in touch!
