About Popcorn
Popcorn is ready to pop into your life and fill it with love!
This gentle, sweet brindle beauty is a human-adoring, nap enthusiast who will melt your heart. Though she is a bit shy at first, give her a little time, and she'll very quickly become your personal velcro dog, demanding pats and cuddles.
Popcorn is an absolute gem in the home. She’s very well-mannered, quiet, and non-destructive. You won't hear a peep from her, and she’s perfectly content to chill on her dog bed or couch. While she loves to be close to her humans and will typically follow you wherever you go, Popcorn is also quite independent. She can happily stay at home alone without any issues, making her a low-maintenance companion.
But don’t be too fooled by her demure and quiet nature. She does have a cheeky and playful side. When she’s in the mood, she loves a game of tug, sometimes re-arranging your shoes, and very much into any games and enrichment that involves food! Being so food motivated, also makes training a breeze! She’s already picking up basic commands quickly and is proving to be quite the smart girl who’s eager to please.
While Popcorn is a homebody at heart, the outside world can be a bit overwhelming for her. Busy streets, loud noises, and large crowds are not her cup of tea. She’s making progress every day, but she would thrive best in a quiet neighbourhood with shorter, leisurely nature walks and maybe another doggy friend to keep her company. She’s more of a serene stroll in the bush kind of gal versus the city streets and café dog. Popcorn’s ideal family will be patient and help her build confidence in the outside world.
Overall, Popcorn is pretty perfect and deserves a warm, loving home to live out her best retirement years ahead.
MY IDEAL HOME: Popcorn is suited for a quieter home that doesn’t have too much high traffic and strangers coming in and out. She would suit either an apartment or house, though ideally with access to a small garden, as she’s often too nervous to toilet on street walks.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Popcorn is very low maintenance and doesn’t require hours of exercise to tire her out. Although street walks are not that relaxing for her, quiet bush walks, sitting in a park taking in the world, or just doing some basic enrichment and training go a long way!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Popcorn hasn’t met any babies yet, but has done great with older kids and very gentle. Don’t see any issues with kids.
MY SUITABILITY TO DOGS AND CATS: Popcorn currently lives with 2 cats in her foster home, though it’s been slow introductions and only been interacting through baby gates or on lead for now, but so far so good.
Popcorn is dog social and outside on walks very neutral, however dogs in the home (where she’s is super comfy) she can be a bit intense and demanding for play. Learning her boundaries and social manners with dogs is still a work in progress. She’ll most likely be great with a doggy brother or sister, but best to do a dog match to ensure the right fit.
