About Dutchess
Meet Dutchess,
Dutchess is a tad nervous and best suited to an experienced owner. She is friendly, happy & quite affectionate but her confidence is lacking just a little.
Dutchess is best suited to live in a calm & quite home as she is sensitive to noise and she is open to meet kids of any age providing that they are on the quieter side.
Dutchess is still getting used to our cattery and the more she gets used to it, the more we get to see her personality grow & blossom. At present she doesn’t seem to like being picked up, preferring all four paws on the ground, but she LOVES being patted, stroked & her cheeks being scratched. She will start to purr immediately as soon as you touch her. She will bunt you with rub up against you and roll over with content.
Due to her slight timidity, we don’t think that Dutchess would be suitable to live in a house where a dog is present, but we also cannot test this, we are making this assumption purely off our interactions with her. This decision though would be up to her new owners.
Dutchess previously lived with another cat, in fact she lived with Lux (ID: 11380) prior to being surrendered to us.
Dutchess is best to live indoors only. Her super sweet nature will surely see her leave the safety of her property. Having her outside puts her at risk of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. Dutchess will happily be an indoor cat & most importantly will be safe inside too.
Dutchess has low energy levels – whilst rare, she still will play with toys but it’s just not all the time. She prefers to roll around, purr & make biscuits than play.
Dutchess appears to be a little fussy with food, or maybe she’s just not that excited to eat. She does eat whatever we give her but she won’t break down the door to get to the food bowl – she’s more of a grazer. She is also a very clean kitty, and always uses her litter tray!
Dutchess isn’t very vocal either but she does purr quite loudly!
Staff Comments: Dutchess is a very sweet but slightly timid cat. She will hide away when entering a new environment of if there is loud noises. However, the way to her heart is through physical tough, attention & engagement. Give her a pat & she’ll be your best friend!

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
