ABOUT:
Meet Finnigan – the ultimate best mate your cat has been waiting for.
If you’re looking for a companion for your resident kitty, Finnigan is in a league of his own. He is only truly happy when he has another cat by his side and has yet to meet a feline he doesn’t like-even the grumpy ones.
Finnigan thrives on companionship, spending his days playing chase, curling up for naps, and engaging in mutual grooming like it’s his full-time job.
He absolutely lights up around younger, energetic kittens or kit-teens. That’s when you see him at his happiest-zooming around, batting ping pong balls across the floor, and joyfully engaging in play.
While he can coexist peacefully with older or more reserved cats, to truly thrive, Finnigan needs an active feline friend who will play with him and help build his confidence. He isn’t just a “nice companion” option… he genuinely needs another cat to feel secure and content.
When he’s not busy with his feline friends, Finnigan enjoys perching up high, surveying his surroundings like a quiet little guardian of the household.
Humans, however… are still a bit of a work in progress.
Finnigan wants to connect. He really does. He greets you with the sweetest little “meep” when he sees you or would like attention, and he has the most endearing ways of trying to connect.
But he’s socially awkward, unsure, and still figuring it all out. He might sidle up for a pat, do his signature “happy dance” (a little chicken-like feather ruffle of excitement), even reach out to gently grab your hand and give it a few licks… and then suddenly remember he’s not quite sure what he’s doing and wander off, a little flustered.
He’s the feline equivalent of a shy, awkward teenager-keen for connection, not quite sure how to handle it, and easily overwhelmed by his own feelings. And honestly? It’s incredibly endearing.
When overwhelmed or unsure, Finnigan will retreat to a safe space like under the bed, often reappearing later when things are calm. He’s also something of a night owl, happiest exploring the house when everything is quiet.
This boy needs a calm, patient home where he can continue to build confidence at his own pace, without pressure. In return, you’ll get to watch a gentle, awkward, and very special little soul slowly come out of his shell.
He may never be a smoochy lap cat, but for the right person, the quiet moments of connection he offers will feel all the more meaningful.
And yes… he is also quite the looker. With his sleek, inky black coat that shines like polished glass, striking yellow eyes that miss nothing, and the tiniest white dot on his chinny chin chin, Finnigan is an absolute stunner.
Add in his delightfully squishy, slightly chonky frame (his words: “I just really, really love food”), and you’ve got a boy who is as adorable as he is unique.
It’s also important to note that Finnigan finds carriers and vet visits very stressful, so he will need support for this-either medication or ideally a home-visiting vet for his ongoing care.
If you have a friendly, playful cat looking for a best mate, and you have the patience and kindness to let a shy, sweet soul come out of his shell in his own time, Finnigan could be the perfect addition to your home.
