About Opal 🦋
Hi there! I’m Opal (aka Opie), a lively and loving Miniature Dachshund with a heart full of joy and a wagging tail. I absolutely adore children and love to be around them. Whether it’s running around the yard, hitting the beach, or playing with my toys, I’m always up for some action! I’m an energetic girl who enjoys her exercise and playtime.
❤️ My Preferences:
🦮 I’m open to having other doggie pals,(especially other Dachshunds), though I do need a few minutes to warm up. Once I’m comfortable, we’ll be the best of friends! I should mention though, I don’t have the patience for puppies who are constantly in my face 😉
🐈⬛ I’m a bit anxious around cats, so I’d prefer a home where I can be the only pet or with other dogs.
🌳 I enjoy my walks, but I can get distracted easily and may lack confidence in new places. I’ll need a patient owner to help me feel secure.
🚘 I can feel a bit uneasy in the car, but I behave well and would appreciate some understanding if I get a little car sick.
❤️ Training & Health:
🛌 I’m crate trained and sleep well in my crate, but I will also adapt easily to sleeping with my humans if that’s what you prefer. (In my current foster home, I sleep with my humans 😉)
✅ I’m fully toilet trained but might have a little mishap if I get excited or nervous.
🐾 I graze on my dry food throughout the day and enjoy a bit of wet food at night. I’m not obsessed with food, but do appreciate a treat now and then.
❣️Keeping me at my ideal weight is important for my spine health. Obesity will cause too much strain on my spine, which can speed up the breakdown of discs, resulting in Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD).
🏡 I’m seeking a loving home with experience in caring for Dachshunds, where my spine health is a priority. If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate little lap dog, I’d love to meet you!

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
