Sheltie couple update end may 2011
these 2 have really settled into a relaxed rountine now, kelsie has taken on the lead role when out walking & i notice sam hangs back. He definitely likes anyone in his company to be in front of his eye line, so no one surprises him from behind, if he knows you're behind him he freezes & waits until you're in front. Sam has also come out of his shell more for me, he actaully wags his tail nowadays & kelsie is all over me when i come home from work. I can now confidently say that with the right home they will ultimately relax & enjoy family time. They really need time to trust people & feel safe!

kelsie & sam are adorable, pure shetland sheepdogs (shelties); both are gorgeous looking, especially sam who is stunning. They came into care as a pair. Both are timid dogs, however kelsie is willing to try to trust you & has become more confident in my company over the last month than sam has. He is extremely shy & he sticks to kelsie’s side to only go where she does. If a stranger comes into the garden he shoots away giving himself a 10 metre escape route, whereas she may decide to come over for a sniff & a pat if she’s feeling confident with me around. I must insist they be re-homed as a pair, they must be together as sam is so reliant on kelsie, he uses her as his little security blanket & it would be very damaging to his mental health to stress him out by separating him from her. He does like to go out for a walk & is quite spritely, whereas kelsie dawdles along sometimes in no hurry what so ever. They don’t bark, don’t destroy anything, they are inside/outside, fully grown now & below knee height. They do require regular grooming to maintain the spectacular coat but it’s really no issue for either. Both are easy to travel & placid at the vets. They have both been de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped & had all their worming done, so ready to look for their special home right now. Given their nature i will look favourably on a home where they are the only dogs, to someone who can be kind & patient, not pressure them into contact where none is wanted. They must be inside/outside, preferably in a home with no children or much older teens who understand their need for space & security exit routes. These are not cuddly dogs, so if your children wish that type of contact you should look at adopting a different pair. Thanks for your understand.
