About Sophie
Meet Sophie, a delightful 5-year and 3-month-old Red Dachshund with a heart as warm as her rich, auburn coat. Sophie is an affectionate little girl who thrives in the company of others, especially if they have four legs and wagging tails! It's essential that Sophie lives with another dog, as she deeply craves the companionship and joy that only another canine friend can provide. If you don't currently have another dog, we encourage you to explore our other available furry friends to find the perfect match for Sophie.
Sophie is fantastic with kids, but she prefers to meet them first to ensure a perfect connection. Her loving nature makes her the ideal family dog, always ready for a cuddle or a new adventure. Sophie enjoys exploring the world, meeting new people, and soaking up all the attention she can get. Her super cute, affectionate demeanor will quickly make her the beloved member of any family.
If you're looking for a sweet, snuggly companion who will brighten your days and love you unconditionally, Sophie is the perfect match!
To book a meet and greet with Sophie please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
