About Maverick
Introducing Maverick!
Maverick is a Golden Retriever born 15th February 2022.
This gorgeous fella has been surrendered to the facility as his owners working and home situations have changed, leaving poor Maverick alone most of the time. Seeing that they couldn't give him the life he deserved, they made the difficult decision to surrender him for rehoming.
Maverick's surrender profile states he is an outside dog so he is not house trained, he travels well in the car, has no food aggression or separation anxiety, he's friendly with children & adult strangers. He gets on with other dogs but hasn't been socialised with cats.
Since being at the facility Maverick has been an absolute delight. He is a little porky though (currently sitting at 40kg) so he will need to go on a diet and increase his daily activity levels. If we had to find negatives about him, he does try to chew on his lead as he's walking and he can get a bit mouthy when playing.. That's about it. He's super sweet, playful and gentle when taking treats.
Maverick tested well with other dogs at the facility. He was playful and gentle with both male & female dogs. He does like to bop other dogs on the head, but overall he's very sweet with them. We feel Maverick could be suitable to live with others, or be a spoilt "only child". If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Maverick tested quite well with both cats & pocket pets. Please keep in mind our testing is done through an enclosure. We cannot guarantee how he will respond to small animals roaming freely in front of him.
Maverick has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety while being at the facility.
Maverick would thrive in a home where he is included as a part of the family.
Maverick's adoption fee is $450 and includes his desexing and lifetime registration.
Maverick has been treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
