About Sarge
Sarge is a very affectionate and loving 3-year-old Great Dane X Mastiff. He wants nothing more than to lather on the love and soak up all the attention. He currently lives with a Dachshund who he gets along with famously. Sarge is a fun-loving boy and whilst only quite small in relation to a full Great Dane male, seems to have all the same loveable characteristics. Typically, he loves to play with his toys, snuggle on the couch and just be a goofy (slightly smaller) Great Dane.
He’s not had much lead training so needs a little tutoring with that. Unfortunately, he was attacked at the beginning of the year at a dog park and now is very defensive with other new dogs. Our hope would be that a new home, new environment and training will leave this experience in the past for Sarge. Before his bad experience he loved to play and interact with other dogs.
Currently Sarge is not able to be inside with the family and as we all know, it’s not the life almost all Great Danes are content with. In fact, even though he’s not destructive and would never chew an indoor bed, he has chewed an outdoor bed. A quiet protest I’d say! Thunderstorms are something that Sarge doesn’t cope with at all. It’s at these times he really needs to be inside bunkered down safe.
He loves his big kid siblings and would be very happy to have school age kids to play with in his new home. While Sarge is not puppy, he still gets his zoomies on and needs a moment to get a hold of himself and be calm inside. We like to think a daily walk and a little direction asking him to chill out when needed will go a long way. He’s a soft boy, has some very basic training and loves to please so I feel training will be lots of fun and rewarding for both Sarge and his new human.
Sarge is in good health. He had a cyst removed from his head in December which he’d had since a puppy. Nothing to worry about but all gone now. He also had a leg injury years ago that took some time to heal up. Again, he’s perfectly fine now but good to know.
Sarge is not suited to a home with cats.
Please get in touch with Lisa of Great Dane Lovers Association of WA if you feel you can give Sarge the best home.
