Meet Eleni,
Eleni came in with Denae (ID: 11370) . Both cats were crammed into a cage & left abandoned. So it’s no wonder that they are both a little shy.
Eleni is a beautiful, sweet & majestic girl. She is also an independent girl but quite affectionate. Eleni is best suited to an owner who has experience in cat ownership, someone who is patient & understanding. Eleni loves to chat to you about her day and discuss important events in the cattery. Eleni has come a long way from who she was when she first came into us. She has blossomed into a lovely cat, whose quite content on her comfy bed and officially adores attention from our staff.
Eleni is best suited to a calm & quiet home as she is sensitive to noise. She's fine to be picked up for short periods of time, often preferring that all four of her paws are on the ground.
Eleni is open to meet kids from 10 years & up (or younger, providing that they are cat savvy and on the quiet side) – reason for this is that Eleni knows what she likes and can get a little "grumpy" – although she may hiss at times, this is just for show but it may be confusing for younger kids to understand her unique way of communicating.
Eleni loves her neck & cheeks being scratched & has come to realise that back scratches/pats are pretty good too!
Due to her timidity, we don’t think that Eleni would be suitable to live in a house where a dog is present, but we also cannot test this, we are making this assumption purely off our interactions with her. This decision though would be up to her new owners.
Eleni previously lived with other cats and as far as we can see other cats in the cattery aren’t upsetting her. She’s able to see them clearly without any tail swishing or hard staring. As always, we encourage anyone who has existing cats in the home to do slow, gradual introductions. Eleni would be fine to be the only cat in the home too.
Eleni is best to live indoors only. Her quiet nature will surely see her leave the safety of her property. Having her outside puts her at risk of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. Eleni will happily be an indoor cat & most importantly will feel safer being inside.
Eleni has low energy needs. Once a cat that was disinterested in toys, she come around to having some interest in playing with, taking a liking to wand toys in particular. But this lazy girl will only play for a few minutes before retiring back to her bed after her brief cardio session.
Eleni is not fussy with food – she loves all food. She's more of a grazer & will graze throughout the day.
Eleni uses her little tray without any issues but will need a deep walled litter tray or enclosed litter tray.
Staff Comments: Eleni has come such a long away & we are so proud of her development. She is affectionate and will often grab your hand if she wants more pats & attention. She responds well to praise that she is a good girl. She likes her neck being scratched and gives great head butts and will even gives some smooches and rub her entire body against you. She sometimes even rolls over when you give her check scratches. She does hiss if she isn’t happy about sometime but doesn’t swipe & settles quickly when you start talking to her. Eleni spends most of her time curled up in her bed. She is a lovely, easy-going cat.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
