About Toby
Toby is an irresistibly charming Kelpie x Labrador mix with a joyful spirit and a heart brimming with love. From the moment you meet him, it's clear that Toby's greatest joy in life is being surrounded by his people. His affectionate nature shines through in everything he does, whether he's cuddling up for some downtime or eagerly following you on your next adventure.
As an active and curious boy, Toby thrives on exploring the outdoors and discovering new places. Whether it's a leisurely walk through the neighborhood, a romp in the park, or a family camping trip, Toby is always up for the journey. His boundless energy and enthusiasm make him the perfect companion for an active family that loves to spend time outdoors.
Toby's social nature extends beyond his human companions-he's a true dog lover at heart. He gets along famously with other dogs and would be thrilled to have a furry playmate in his forever home. Having another dog to share in his adventures and keep him company would be the perfect match for Toby's lively personality.
In addition to his playful side, Toby is also highly trainable and eager to learn. His intelligence and willingness to please make him an excellent candidate for learning new tricks, commands, and skills. He would thrive in a home where he can continue to build on his training and engage in fun, interactive activities that challenge his mind.
Toby is not just a ball of energy-he's also a well-mannered boy who is fully toilet trained. He's accustomed to living inside with his family, where he feels safe and loved. Toby's ideal day includes being close to his people, whether it's lounging by your side or joining in on family game nights.
Having lived with cats before, Toby has shown that he can coexist peacefully with feline friends. However, he would benefit from a slow and careful introduction to any new cats in the household, ensuring a smooth transition for everyone involved.
Toby's gentle and loving nature makes him a hit with kids, and any child who meets him is sure to fall in love. He's the kind of dog who bonds deeply with his family, and he would be an incredible companion for children who are ready to share their lives with a devoted four-legged friend.
In Toby, you'll find a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving companion who is ready to bring endless joy and adventure into your life. If you're searching for a dog who will be both your best friend and an integral part of your family, Toby is waiting to fill that role with all the love and loyalty you could ever wish for.
To book a meet and greet with Toby please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
