About Artie
This handsome young man is Artie, a playful, excitable young man ready for a new life 🐾💙
HOUSEHOLD- Artie is looking for a dog experienced home who has the time and patience to help him become more accustomed to real world experiences and learn polite doggie manners. He would be best suited with children 10years and above due to his strength and at times, boisterous excitability, but could suit many different environments with the right family.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Artie will need some more basic obedience training along with lead training to help keep his manners in check. He can sit on command and is food motivated but he can be easily distracted becoming over excited when the world around him is exciting too. For this reason a calm, positive approach would be best.
ON LEAD- Artie loves his walks but is still learning what a lead actually means. He can be quite strong at times and will pull towards anything he wishes to explore or sniff. This will just require an owner who has the time to help train him more because he will need those walks to help burn his extra energy!
PLAY/TOYS- Artie does love soft toys and will absolutely play Tug’O’War when given the chance. He is always ready for a play here at the shelter and may become even more playful once in a home environment.
OTHER DOGS- Artie has shown himself to enjoy the company of other dogs but does require some more time to learn proper polite doggie manners. He can be abit excited and ‘rude’ when meeting other dogs and will require a meet and greet with any potential canine companions to make sure they get along well.
While he loves rough and tumble play, not all dogs will, so he will not be suitable for dog parks/beaches etc for the moment and would require atleast 3-4mths to settle in a new home environment before this may even be an option.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Unfortunately this boy is too much to be able to live with smaller creatures. He showed interest and excitement when meeting our facility cats and whilst there was no aggression shown, he did show signs of wanting to chase them and we would not want an existing animal to feel stressed with him around.
CARE/GROOMING- Artie has a short easy to maintain coat that will require a weekly brush, monthly bath & monthly nail trim to stay in good condition.
EXERCISE/NUTRITION- Being a younger dog Artie will need 1-2 walks/runs daily and a game or two in the backyard to keep him satisfied. He enjoys exploring and once lead trained more, will make an amazing running/walking buddy.
He has shown us no signs of food sensitivities or fussiness in the facility and has been eating two adult meals daily along with treats, bones and chews that have been donated.
BREED- Staffy Mix - DOB 29/9/23
Artie is located at our Charmhaven Shelter. His $550 adoption fee covers microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, current vaccination, flea and worming treatments.
Gorgeous Artie may look serious in his photos, however he is a super sweet lovable boy who just doesn't like being in front of a camera 😊
If you would love to add Artie to your family, then please lodge your adoption interest online.
