About Freddie
Meet Freddie, this handsome black and white border collie male, full of joy and life, that will melt your heart. He has been in care for a short time and is making big advances - learning the household routine, playing with his foster siblings and snuggling up to his humans in the evening. He is confident and very friendly to humans, always wagging his tail. He loves playing with his foster cat brother who tolerates him well and provides guidance when he oversteps.
He has been desexed whilst in foster care, and paired with training, has calmed down somewhat. He is now crate trained, can stay in his crate for several hours when needed, and sleeps in it at night. He becomes a bit vocal when excited or frustrated but is redirectable. Whilst he loves meeting new people, he sometimes can get too excited and be a bit jumpy, something to bear in mind around small humans. He is working hard on learning to jump on furniture only when allowed. He enjoys meeting new dogs at the dog park, knows his name and is working hard on improving his recall. This has been a bit hit and miss in situations with competing interests around.
Freddie loves playing fetch, although he is still getting used to the return part of this and is highly food motivated, making him perfect for further training. He loves water and swimming, and can walk on the lead nicely when encouraged with delicious treats! He does not chase bikes, motorbikes, cars, or scooters, even when they drive past him on walk. Although never had a proper training before coming into care, he has proved that he has excellent learning ability (proves that he is a border collie after all!) since his training class started, and has shown an amazing improvement. Freddie will require adopters who understand his breed to maintain the brain stimulation and physical exercise needs of this gorgeous dog. He needs a commitment to continuing his training to ensure that he will be the best version of himself that he can possibly be. His foster mum would love to have a chat if you would like to know any more about this sweet and beautiful dog.
