Vinnie

Hi! My name is Vinnie and I’m a German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) and I’m looking for my new family.

I may be 8 but I’m still very young at heart. I love going for walks and playing with a ball, but one of my real favourites is an old plastic bottle, they are the best toys. I also really like the beach. I love trotting along the waterline and investigating all the things I can find, then if I’m called I go back to foster mum.

My favourite people are what foster mum calls “the grand kids”. Every time they come around I get excited and we run around playing chasing games with each other. I do know though that I need to be careful around the little ones, but I'd think I might be a bit too boisterous for anyone under about 5.

When I'm not playing I love to sit on the couch and snuggle up with foster mum or sleep quietly on my bed. I can easily be left on my own inside for up to 8 hours with no problems at all.

Foster mum here. Vinnie really is a lovely dog with a truly gentle soul and a few mischievous habits. He loves his food so is quite easy to train with treats, but don’t leave food on the counter, he will find it and get it.

Vinnie is great with other dogs, but untested with cats, birds, or other small animals. As the GSP is a hunting dog, I don’t think a house with these would suit him at all.

Vinnie is on a low dose of canine anti-inflammatory medication that the vet says he’ll need to be on permanently so he comes with an ongoing cost of less than $20 a month.
