Meet Gio, a young, sensitive dog who is looking for a patient and understanding home. Initially fearful upon entering the shelter, Gio will need time to bond with his new owner and adjust to his new environment. He thrives in a stable, calm setting where he can slowly build confidence.
Gio will benefit greatly from ongoing training, especially with lead work and basic commands. We highly recommend working with a positive reinforcement trainer to support his development. Until he gains more confidence, please avoid dog parks and off-lead areas. Controlled playdates with known, polite dogs will help him learn good manners in a safe and manageable way.
Given Gio's current lack of confidence with close handling, a home with older children is preferred. He is touch-avoidant and will need an adopter who understands that he takes time to warm up to being handled. A meet-and-greet is essential to ensure a good match for all involved.
