Checkers has been in foster care to build his confidence and is now ready to find his forever home. He started out as a rather timid boy and may still be unsure in new surroundings. He does prefer to do things on his terms, if you wait, give him some space to settle in, he will show you how much he wants to be with you. You may find that he will sit near you to begin with, then as time goes on and he trusts you he'll sit next to you so that he is snuggled next to you.. Checkers does enjoy his pats as well but will let you know when he has had enough, he also doesn't like to be held for long periods, it has taken some time for him to be comfortable to be held. He does love to play, if he has lots of toys around he will be very happy. Checkers would do well with another cat in the house, as he really enjoyed the company of other cats whilst in foster care.
