About Eve
Meet Eve,
When Eve was surrendered to us, she was a little worse for wear. Her fur was sparce, she was incredibly underweight & was also sporting a parasite burden. She’s had a few tests, been nursed back to health & the good doctor has stated that she is fine to be made available for adoption… So, let’s jump right in!
Eve is best suited to someone who has owned cats before or those who have experience with cats who have a strong personalities. Eve is a friendly & happy young girl; she is also very confident & outgoing in nature. Eve is suitable to any household environment.
Eve is open to meet kids from 12 years & up. Reason for this due to her quirky behaviours. She is strong willed, engaging & playful but her way of engaging is different to how other cats would normally behave. Eve will pull your hand towards her for pats & cuddles, and she is also known to get overstimulated at times and when this happens, she may give you a few love bits. Whilst she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body this behaviour can be a bit of a shock to the unexpected. Eve is a very social girl; she loves human interaction and she’s quite affectionate too.
Eve prefers to give you love with all four paws on the ground. Whilst she will certainly let you pick her up, she’ll start to fuss until she is back on the ground. Eve will happily take any & all pets, she especially likes her ears, chin and base of her tail being scratched.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Eve would go living with or meeting dogs. This would be up to the discretion of her knew owners.
Whilst Eve previously lived with another cat, she has indicated to us that she is not a fan of other cats & would much prefer to be the only feline in the home.
Eve would need to be an inside only cat. Reason for this, besides the obvious risks of her running away, getting lost, injured (or worse) but her dislike of cats could cause her to wander out of the property as well as her being a recovered flu cat. Being outside would open her up to the possibility of getting sick again – and she wouldn’t like that!
Eve has mid-range energy levels; you’ll often see her lazing about on her bed, but she will happily play with toys if given the chance! She loves to play with feather wand toys the most!
Eve is not fussy when it comes to food. She will happily eat both wet & dry food – she tends to graze throughout the day so you can easily free feed her without the risk of overfeeding.
Eve is a tidy queen, as she always uses her litter tray.
Staff Comments: Eve is a really sweet & playful cat. We feel that her strong personality reflects her previous life prior to coming into the ACF. We obviously don’t know all the details but judging based on her condition it wasn’t as easy life. She does play bite but only when she is overstimulated. This can be trained out of course with time & patience.
Medical notes
Recovered Cat Flu: Historically cat flu has had a negative reputation and can often deter people from adopting; but you wouldn’t actually be able to tell a recovered cat flu cat from a non-cat flu cat. The truth is that many cat flu cats will live happy, healthy, long lives in their new home. So, what is it? Cat flu is caused by a virus. Humans can’t catch it, but other cats can; but only if the cat is showing flu symptoms. Stressful situations like desexing, or a dramatic change in environment can lead to a recovered cat experiencing cat flu again, but this is usually short lived and rarely requires medical intervention. Most cats will recover on their own providing their vaccines are up to date.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
