Medical notes
Charlie has a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy . Parts of his heart muscles are thickened causing irregular beats or murmers. Patients with this type of heart murmer are prone to developing blood clots or accumulating fluid around the heart and lungs, and are at risk of heart failure. Charlie is on two types of medications each day to reduce the chance of either of these side effects occuring. His last echo shows his condition is stable and has not deteriorated further. Charlie will need regular health checks with the vet every 6 months and daily medication for life. An echo will likely be required every 12 months to monitor his condition.
