About Chestnut
Chestnut is a sweet, playful girl who will fill your house with cuteness, joy and love. She is one of 11 puppies abandoned at a rural pound. Underweight, her little body struggled for a few days, and she had an impromptu reunion with fellow siblings at the emergency vet clinic. But nothing can keep little Chess down and now she is a bundle of energy, warmth and trouble.
She loves being held by humans on their lap... even by the toddler whilst being walked to the cafe in the pram. She also adores her big doggy foster sister. As you can see, she follows her around the yard like a shadow, and when they have finished playing, she spends a little while trying to work out the best way to use her as a pillow. She's in care with human children, and would be fine with kids of all ages. She is also living with cats, who she isn't very fussed about but who are afraid of her so Chess hasn't had many interactions with them yet. She seems oblivious when they express their dislike for her presence.
Chestnut's breed is a bit of guesswork, but she is likely a mix of some type of bull dog (mastiff, arab, etc), and ridgeback. She doesn't have oversized paws, but she will probably be medium to large when she grows up.
She is a chatty, happy, easy going soul and getting used to exploring her world, running around the backyard after the kids. She is pretty clever (e.g. at climbing out of her pen to be part of the action), and very food oriented so she should be easy to train.
She would love to have company, such as another dog to play with, and is quickly learning toilet training and basic commands. If you are after a pup with personality, who likes playing and a couch cuddle, Ches is the girl for you.
