Atticus

Atticus needs no introduction.

You will all know his horrific story; starved and abandoned on a hard rubbish pile, Atticus was not meant to survive.

But he did.

He has done more than survive, he has thrived and blossomed while in the care of The Lost Dogs' Home but now it is time for him to start the next chapter of his life.

There are so many things we could say about Atticus, but we don't have all day. He is sweet, kind and a gentle soul. Aged at about 5 years old, Atticus is ready to settle into a permanent retirement home where he will be loved and adored. Atticus has spent a wonderful four weeks in our foster program with his foster Mum Jamie. Jamie has nurtured and cared for Atticus, getting him back to nearly full strength.

While in foster we've learned a few things;

Atticus adores his people. He wants nothing more than to spend all his time with his humans. So much so, that some people would call Atticus a bit of a clinger. He just adores being curled up on the couch watching TV, having a little stroll around the neighbourhood and following his humans to the kitchen whenever there is a possibility of a snack! With everything that Atticus has been through in his life - it is understandable that once he has found love and comfort, he would not want to let that go. This miraculous man will need a home with somebody that is home more often than not and is really willing and able to commit to teaching him that when you leave, you most definitely are coming home. The thought of being alone is really scary for him right now.

Amazing Atticus is quite worried about other dogs. We don't know all of his history, but we do know that dogs scare him. He has had some traumatic incidences with dogs so he would prefer a home where he is not sharing your affection with another canine friend. On the other hand, Atticus is currently living in foster with three cats and has shown positive behaviours towards them. He would be suitable to go to a kitty-friendly home.

Now, Atticus loves people as we have said. He is not biased towards a particular family style. Are you single? Great! In a couple? Amazing? Big family with children in the home? No problem at all! Atticus will adore anyone that adores him. The way to win Atticus' heart is with treats (no surprises there) - he is partial to Schmackos but isn't fussed as long as it is tasty. His foster mum Jamie says that Atticus tap dances when he sees the treats come out, how cute is that?

We understand that Atticus has pulled on the heartstrings of all of Melbourne and we are committed to ensuring he gets the perfect home.
