About Romeo
Romeo, Romeo, where art though Romeo!
Well, here he is! Looking smashing as ever and ready to find his forever home. Romeo has had quite a rough start to life and is looking for a family to give him a second chance at life. He came from a regional pound and has been boarding in Brisbane where he's spent time with a dog behaviourist to iron out a few tiny wrinkles in his otherwise sweet and loving personality. He has spent the last 12 months in kennels waiting for a foster carer/forever home to choose him. It’s dogs like him that break our hearts. Staff can't understand why he is still there. He is a big gorgeous, playful love bug who wants to spend time with you and knows all sorts of tricks.
Romeo has been lucky enough to find a temporary foster carer who has been able to take him out for mini breaks when she gets the opportunity to. While in the home he has been able to make some new friends. He is the biggest of the crew, which consists of a JRTx, a Beagle, a Rottweiler x kelpie and a mixed breed big dog, but he is so polite and gentle. When you get home, he greets you with pure joy, eager to share his day and show how much he missed you. All he wants is to be close and have a little chat in his own sweet way.
At mealtime, Romeo gets super excited but still shows off his good manners, sitting patiently until his food is served like the good boy he is. Within just 24 hours of his first visit, with a little encouragement and some sneaky observation of the other dogs, he learned to use the doggy door like a total champ! He quickly discovered that the couch is clearly the best bed in the house — but don’t worry, he’s more than happy to swap it for the big dog bed in the lounge when asked. Romeo LOVES the car! He rides like a pro, chilling in the back seat with his doggy seatbelt. Sometimes he stands up to give you "directions," but mostly he just curls up and naps like a king.
His foster mum is honestly baffled that he hasn’t been adopted yet. Romeo’s got a heart of gold, loves people and other dogs, and is just an all-around legend. (Cats? Pocket Pets? Not so much. But hey — nobody’s perfect, right? 😉)
He’s a big, happy boy with a tail that wags like a helicopter, so little kids might get a surprise! Teenagers should be no problem at all. Romeo is all about good manners, food rewards, and soaking up all the pats and love you can give. He takes treats so gently you’ll melt, and he’ll happily do anything to earn your praise (and maybe a snack or two).
This boy is ready for his happily-ever-after, he deserves his happy ending! He's waited long enough. Could it be with you?MEET & GREET
We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and if a dog, to also introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don't expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.
ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At CQASI our animals future is paramount and we want to see them put into their forever homes. Every detail on our agreement is used to ensure your home is suitable for a new addition, that you agree to the terms and conditions and we also use some of the info for owner transfer after the adoption trial period (mentioned further down)
HOME/YARD CHECK
All our cats are indoor/outdoor enclosure only so all house checks are done when your feline friend is being dropped off to join your household. If the barking variety is what you are looking at adding to your home then one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a day/time for a yard check. This is to check your fencing is suitable, see where your new canine will be sleeping and just get a general feel for the home they will be going to. All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.
ADOPTION FEE
Adoption fee is to be paid prior to collecting your new family member. The adoption fee is used to cover the vet work your new addition received. This includes - but is not limited to Desexing, vaccination/s, microchipping, parasite treatment/prevention (heart worm testing for dogs only).
TWO WEEK TRIAL
All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you wanted then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.
Our aim is a beautiful goodbye into their new home. We treat any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one concern.
