About Big Red
Big Red: The Lovable Black Cat
Meet Big Red, a charming black cat who weighs in at almost 8 kilos, though he should ideally be around 4-5 kilos.
This hefty boy has a heart as big as his belly and loves nothing more than a good scratch under the chin and some quality company.
Despite his size, Big Red is an independent fellow who isn't keen on being picked up all the time. He enjoys having his own space to nap but loves joining you on the couch or at the end of your bed when he's ready for some cuddles.
Kids who understand and respect his need for occasional solitude would make perfect companions for him.
Big Red is super loving and thrives on being around people.
He also gets along well with other relaxed, laid-back cats, making him a great addition to a home with existing feline friends. However, he does need to be on a diet to shed some of his extra weight.
Overall, Big Red is a lovely cat with a gentle demeanor, ready to bring joy and companionship to a lucky family.
To book a meet and greet with Big Red please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
