About Pepper
Introducing Pepper!
Pepper is a Staffy x Kelpie born approx 27th June 2023.
Pepper was brought in to us as an unmicrochipped stray & unfortunately when her owners found out she was here, they wanted nothing to do with her so they surrendered her for rehoming. Her surrender profile states she is predominantly an outside dog so she is not yet house trained, she has had obedience training, travels well in the car, has no signs of separation anxiety and is friendly with children & adult strangers. It states she is good with other dogs but not cats and she can walk on lead.
Since being at the facility Pepper has shown herself to be an incredibly sweet girl who loves human attention & affection. Pepper is adamant about maintaining her role as a "Designated Lap Dog". As she is so good at her job, we're more than happy to refer her for this position.
Even though she is a Staffy x Kelpie she is fairly small for that breed mix . She doesn't appear to be too boisterous or "over the top" as you would normally expect for such a young dog, especially when mixed with a working breed. In saying that though, she does loves to get out and would love to go on adventures with her new family. She will also need an owner who is willing to give her the cuddles & attention she desperately craves.
Pepper tested fairly well with other dogs at the facility. She has shown a preference to calmer dogs, as she can be reactive if they are too boisterous or in her face. We have found that she can be stand-offish when meeting that type of dog, but she seems to settle after a second meet with them, where she becomes quite playful. We feel Pepper could be suitable to live with others, or be a spoilt "only child". If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Unfortunately Pepper has shown signs of having prey drive at the facility, so she will need to be in a home with no smaller animals such as cats, chickens & rabbits.
Pepper has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety while being at the facility.
Pepper would thrive in a home where she is included as a part of the family, where she can continue her very important job as the "Designated Lap Dog".
Pepper's adoption fee is $450 and includes her desexing and lifetime registration.
Pepper has been treated for flea and worms and is up to date with her vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
