About Brax
Brax the 6 year 4 month old standard Dachshund is a very sweet, but complicated boy 🥰😍
Brax has come a long way since coming into our care. He is on anti-anxiety medication prescribed by a vet and that has changed his world. Brax initially barked constantly and needed to be with a person. With the medication Brax can now enjoy time laying outside in the sunshine and pottering around the yard without a human being with him.
Brax is dog social and happy to be with other dogs. He is not suitable to be in a home with a cat as his breed instincts kick in and he wants to chase.
Brax prior to coming into our care had some surgery in May 2024 for kidney stones. Brax is on a special diet - Royal Canin Urinary S/O - to ensure he does not experience recurring issues with kidney stones.
Brax is not suitable for a home with children. Teenagers would be fine. He needs a home that understands the Dachshund breed and one where he will be continued to be crated at night time to sleep. This has helped Brax build his self reliance and he sleeps soundly. He has learnt he does not have to be with a person 24/7.
So we are looking for a home where Brax can continue to thrive with consideraion for his health needs - physical and psychological.
If you are interested in fostering to adopt Brax and meet the following criteria then please private message us;
# Have an understanding of the Dachshund Breed.
# Are a cat free household.
# Willing to maintain Brax on his special diet - life long.
# Have other social dogs or he can be an only dog in the home.
# Live on rural property - due to Brax previously living on a rural property and loving it.
# Willing to work with us around building Brax's confidence and resilience -so he does not need his human attention all the time.
# Will maintain the routine of Brax sleeping in a crate at night time - this is really good for him and he is not phased at all - quiet and sleeps all night.
# Someone home a fair bit - no full time workers as Brax would not cope with this.

We like to take the personal approach where a person sends an email of interest around an animal and then we will follow up with phone discussions and email exploration through a survey.
Please note we are a small group of volunteers that balances the administrative side with the care of the animals.
Please only apply for one of our animals if you are genuinely interested in them.
We expect the prospective owner to travel to meet the animal and we are open to trial periods to ensure we have the match right.
