About Bubbles
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE, HOWEVER WE CAN ENDEAVOUR TO ARRANGE TRANSPORT BY ROAD TO THE PERTH AREA.
NAME: Bubbles
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Jack Russell x Chihuahua
BREED TRAITS: Chihuahuas love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone, They are sensitive, and can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas cannot tolerate cold or hot weather so a warm coat in the winter and care re overheating in the summer is needed - they are not outside dogs. They are bright and willful but will learn if you make it fun and although small, have big personalities.
Jack Russells are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. Terriers are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. Jack Russells can be reactive to larger dogs unless well socialised.
********************************************************************
ASSETS: Affectionate, sensitive, sweet and playful. Due to her past experiences Bubbles is very wary around new people initially, especially males, and will growl if she’s not comfortable. She can be selective with people if they make her feel uncomfortable and she definitely prefers females. Once you have her trust she is a lovely friendly girl.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Bubbles loves to ride in the car and go on trips to Bunnings with her foster carer. She loves stuffed/soft toys and is always up for a snuggle on the couch.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She’s the cutest thing and is the most loving and affectionate girl once she’s comfortable in your company.
OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with other friendly dogs once she’s had a supervised introduction but is protective around her food and treats so this would need to be managed around other dogs. She could possibly live with a dog-savvy cat after gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Bubbles walks well on the lead and is mostly housetrained, although she does have the odd accident when left alone for a longer period. She will bark when someone is at the door and can be a bit of a barker if there are unknown noises – she would not suit a unit where neighbours are close. Bubbles is neat in the house and isn’t destructive. She’s a work in progress with her command training so this will need to continue in her new home once settled and happy. We would recommend training that will grow her confidence and broaden her socialisation in a supervised environment. Bubbles loves being picked up to sit on a lap, when she has overcome her caution.
ESSENTIALS for Bubbles:
** A quiet, loving adult only home where someone is there more often than not or can take her with them when out. Experience of Chihuahuas particularly or small breeds is essential.
** She would prefer to be the only dog in the home as she can be possessive around food. She’d also love to get all the attention!
** An owner who will continue to train her and build on the progress she has made in care.
** She needs daily exercise and a home that is willing to involve her in family activities.
** Bubbles needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
** Bubbles loves to be with her people so must be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
Bubbles is frightened by young children but can tolerate visiting children over 12 years of age as long as they are gentle around her and are old enough to recognize her signals and give her space if she needs it.
If Bubbles sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
