HOUSEHOLD- Meet Spencer, an intelligent, energetic young man who is looking for a dog experienced home to call his own. He could suit a variety of lifestyles but may best suit a home where he can be involved in everyday life and has time for his training needs. He is at this stage not suitable for younger children due to his boisterous excitement at times but would suit dog confident teenagers and adults.

ON-GOING TRAINING- Spencer needs a decent amount of training due to his high intelligence and lack of emotional regulation. He can easily become distracted and over aroused and will need a confident handler who has the time and patience to work with him. He is food and handler motivated and we have no doubt that in a calm, loving environment he will thrive!

ON LEAD- Spencer can be strong and pully on lead when excited or trying to get towards something he wants but shows good handler engagement and will just need some help to get him walking well.

PLAY/TOYS- Spencer shows some interest in toys chasing balls when thrown and destroying soft toys when alone in his run or kennel areas. He is still very easily distracted and a true play style will be best seen once he is settled in a home environment.

OTHER DOGS- Spencer is keen to meet other dogs but has not been well socialised in the past and has very poor social cues. He has not yet shown any aggression towards his canine companions but has a lot to learn about how to meet other dogs politely because he may get himself into trouble with a dog that expects polite manners. He may be best rehomed as an only dog so that his new owner can focus on him but he has not yet shown us any behaviour to say he could not suit a well socialised canine companion.

CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- In the facility Spencer has shown no concerning behaviours towards the cats. He is much more distracted by everything else going on around him and may be suitable to live with a feline companion. This could be discussed further at his adoption application.

CARE/GROOMING- Spencer has a medium length coat and will require weekly brushing and monthly bathing and nail clipping. He does tend to try and play with the grooming tools and will require an owner who is patient enough to set up a good grooming routine to get him out of this cheeky habit.

EXERCISE- Spencer has a high-energy requirement and would best suit an active owner who is happy with daily walks/runs. He may even enjoy further exercise in the form of a dog sport but would need time to settle into his new home before trying this out. He will also benefit from learning how to switch off and relax as he can become overstimulated quickly and may be a good candidate for crate training, adaptil or calming music/massage post exercise.

NUTRITION- Spencer is currently being fed on an adult dry and wet feed for 2 meals daily. He has shown no signs of food sensitivities and eats a variety of treats when offered.

BREED- 2.5 Year Old Cattle Mix

His $450 adoption fee covers microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, current vaccination, flea and worming treatments.
