About Loki
💙 Loki 💙
HOUSEHOLD- Meet Loki, a cheeky, sweet young man who has had minimal experience in the big wide world. He is looking for a dog experienced household who has the time and patience to help him become a polite doggie member of society. He can be wary of strangers and will require a more mature household with any children being aged 10-3yrs and older as he does not like fast sudden movements or sounds. Under his nervous nature he is a sweet affectionate boy waiting to be loved!
ON-GOING TRAINING- Loki will need an owner who is willing to take the time to train him in all areas of life. This include basic obedience, lead manners, confidence building, dog socialisation and more. He is an A + student who loves a good treat or two but just needs time to learn all he has to know.
ON LEAD- Loki needs some work when walking on lead. He means well, but becomes easily distracted or excited which makes walking nicely the last thing on his mind. He does respond well to verbal commands, praise and loves his food treats. Learning to walk well will just take time and patience.
PLAY/TOYS- In the facility the sights, smells and other options available to him prevent him from really getting into a game. He will sniff and look at toys but is yet to really show us a love for any toy in particular.
OTHER DOGS- Loki is still learning polite doggie manners. He is super keen to meet them and will sniff them thoroughly if allowed. He does not read their signals very well and will need help learning when to move away if they have had enough. He will not suit dog parks or beaches due to this behaviour and would best suit a dog experienced owner who will be able to introduce him the right way. He does not need to rush into meeting other dogs and may be best living as an only dog unless he is paired with a very tolerant well socialised dog who can help show him the ropes at home.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Loki has shown us no concerning behaviour towards the cats at the facility and likes to sniff them face to face. He could possibly live with a feline friend but we will continue to monitor his behaviour to know more when adoption time comes.
CARE/GROOMING- Loki has a lovely short coat and will need a weekly brush, monthly bath and nail trim to feel and look great. He can be abit unsure of excessive handling and his new owners will need to go slow building up positive emotions towards the whole experience. He does allow handling all over but we want him to enjoy it too!
EXERCISE- Loki is still a young pup and has quite a high-energy requirement. He will require daily walks or runs and would love human interaction in the backyard too. He may need time to build his confidence up when exploring new areas but will really enjoy it once he feels confident and comfortable with his handler.
NUTRITION- Loki has not been fussy whilst in our care. He has been fed twice daily on an adult dry and wet food diet and enjoys his meals in a bowl, scatter feed or kong.
BREED - Gorgeous Staffy Mix - DOB 25/2/23
