About Ripley - 16 Month Old Labrador X (trial)
Meet Ripley, a 16-month-old tan Labrador x. Ripley is extremely affectionate, playful and loves a bear hug. He is well natured, a little clumsy and A LOT of fun.
Ripley loves wrestling and running with his foster brother. He wants to know where you are and what you are doing. The only thing he loves more than being with his humans, is food, leave nothing in reach!
Since coming to stay with his foster family Ripley has slowly been learning new skills. He has above average recall, is learning to sit, lay down and stay.
Ripley has not had much experience walking on a lead and will need more training with this. Sometimes Ripley gets very excited when he sees the opportunity to meet new people or investigate new things and this can cause him to pull on the lead. His foster family are working on him staying close and calm whilst walking on the lead, currently walking him on a harness for optimum control. With the aid of treats and verbal training he is slowly improving with each walk. This training will need to be continued in his forever home.
Ripley is fully toilet trained and knows how to use the doggie door when he needs to.
He currently sleeps inside on his bed in his foster parent’s room next to his foster sibling – bonus, he sleeps soundly through the night.
Ripley’s forever family will need to have an active lifestyle and a understand that he will need exercise, mental stimulation, and continual training. Ripley would love be delighted if his new owner was a runner, who would take him on park runs or let him join run club with them.
A basic understanding of the Labrador breed and their intense love and desire for food would also be great! His foster family have forgotten this a few times and lost a few things from the kitchen bench during meal prep.
Ripley is currently living in a home with another dog. I believe Ripley would be happy to continue being in a home where he could have a furry sibling or be in a family where he is the only dog. He does LOVE attention so his companion would need to be one that is not of a jealous nature.
He would need to be allowed indoors as well as outdoors and would benefit from a big yard to explore. Fencing would need to be 6ft or over and have secure, well locked gates. Ripley is a clever boy and can unlock easy latches.
He would love a family that has a lot of time to give him. Perhaps someone that works from home, a part time worker or someone who could take him to work with them.
Ripley is in foster care in East Maitland NSW. He is not available for adoption interstate. His adoption fee is $400. He is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped.
