Nala is a gorgeous dog who just wants to be loved. Once she gets to know
and trust you she will be your lifelong companion.
When Nala came to us it was apparent she was starved of attention. She
gradually came to realize we were there to care for her and love her.
Nala has very good manners. She has been taught to lie down and relax
before she gets any food or treats. We have another dog, and we've
always fed them separately, but even when giving them treats, there's no
guarding or growling. Nala sits on command and we've been reinforcing
the need to sit before crossing a road. She is learning slowly.
Nala is not really into balls or toys but she loves to walk at your
heels. If given the chance she will run around, and she returns on
command. Nala gets along well with other dogs – both ours and others
she meets. She is not a barker – she may alert you to someone coming but
does not bark continually.
On the leash she walks calmly but can get spooked by loud sirens or
motorbikes on the road. Nala runs well on the leash, however she is
interested in other dogs and likes to sniff them, so can lunge in front
of you, so beware.
It would seem that Nala has been an outside dog, but has transitioned
well to loving the good life and being indoors. She loves to lie in the
sun and soak up the rays.
Nala is clever and knows how to use the doggy door. She takes herself
outside to toilet. Around 8.30pm every night she takes herself outside
and she's then good overnight. Nala is the perfect car passenger. She
settles easily on the back seat of the car and sleeps.
Nala just wants to be loved. She gradually began to trust us and it
took her about 8 days to venture up onto our laps on the couch. She is
hungry for attention and the loveliest of souls. She wants a forever
home where she is adored.
Thank you to Liv Morison of Liv Morison photography for the fantastic
photos of Nala.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
