About Mirra
Mirra is a cavoodle who came to us from a breeding facility where she did not get much socialisation with people and no socialisation in the world outside the kennel environment. Due to Mirra’s rough start in life, she can be timid when first meeting new people in new environments, however given just a bit of time, she has shown that she is able to adapt exceptionally well. Despite her timid nature, she is extremely loveable, friendly and affectionate.
Mirra is currently in care with a 3 year old Mini Groodle who has been a great role model for her. She spends her time watching and copying his behaviour from things like playing with toys to where to go potty to running around at the park. It is important that Mirra is adopted into a family with another dog, so she has a well-adjusted and gentle canine role model to continue to learn from. She has definitely become more confident around her foster brother. Mirra definitely likes humans more than dogs however having a gentle dog to learn from is crucial for her development.
Mirra walks well on a leash and enjoys running around at the dog park with her foster brother and other small dogs her size. She is quite scared of large dogs and will bark when she sees larger dogs in public.
Mirra can't resist chasing after birds so perhaps is not suited to a home with birds.
Even though she is curious exploring her new surroundings, she can still be quite timid and her instinct is to bark when she is scared.
Mirra has mild separation anxiety and will initially cry if she is left alone with her carer's dog however, she does settle down after a few minutes.
She likes to collect her foster carers’ items and build a collection of their things in her dog bed while they’re gone.
She can get anxious in the car if she isn’t sitting in the front with the humans, she does not enjoy sitting in the back seat away from the humans so further training will be required there so that Mirra can enjoy car trips.
Mirra enjoys the companionship of both people and pets alike. She loves being around humans – she loves snuggling in bed with the family at night and cuddling on the lounge while they’re watching television.
At night she likes to sleep in the bedroom on her dog bed or in the bed with her foster family. Therefore, a household where she has full access indoors would suit her best.
Like all of our dogs Mirra must be permitted inside at all times, be allowed to cuddle on the couch and sleep in the bedroom.
Mirra has mostly nailed potty training but will still have some accidents here and there so she will need a family who are patient and will help train her.
Mirra has not been introduced to young children yet.
Mirra currently lives in an apartment and would be suited to apartment living as long as there is a balcony for her to go potty however I'm sure she would love to live in a house with a backyard.
