Jasper 😍 8yo, Chihuahua (On Trial 2/8/24)

Joyful Jasper is a perfect little man to keep you company at home and on walks. He is an 8yo, male, Chihuahua, happy, healthy, playful and just plain adorable. He loves to chase a ball or toy and to meet new people and dogs. He is also very sweet and affectionate and loves to sit with you.

Chihuahuas commonly live to around 16 so Jasper is only middle-aged and still has half his life ahead of him to share with his new family.

Jasper is used to living with other dogs so he’d be a great companion for your current dog if you have one. He’d also be fine on his own if you don’t work full time or are retired. He will add a spark of joy and fun to any home!

Jasper loves going for walks and walks beautifully on harness and lead. He is confident and curious and trots happily enjoying life to the fullest.

He is an inside dog and needs to be welcome inside and to sleep inside. He is housetrained and good in the car 🚗. He isn’t a nuisance barker but will let you know when someone comes to your door.

Jasper hasn’t spent much time with children but he is gentle and not nippy and I’m sure he will love any child that will throw a toy for him! However, I don’t think he’d enjoy a busy household with children under 12. He’d be fine with young visitors and teenage residents though. Jasper hasn’t been tested with cats but if you have a cat and would like us to test him we can arrange it.

Jasper has very cute black and white markings. He looks a bit like a teeny-tiny Husky. I think the white tip of his waggy tail is especially cute💝. His coat is very soft and smooth to touch. He is low maintenance, just needing some brushing and a bath every now and again. Jasper is a bit of a chunky monkey at 6.5kgs and could stand to lose a little weight.

Summary about Jasper:
• Fine as an only dog if there is someone who doesn’t work full time.
• If you work full time he needs to live with another dog.
• No resident children under 12 years old (visitors ok).
• Enjoys a walk most days.
• Wants to be inside to give you lots of love.

Jasper was well loved in his previous home and was sadly surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle when they couldn’t find a rental which would allow dogs.

Jasper is in foster care in Belmont, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). He’s available for adoption to the east coast states but you will need to come meet him and drive him back with you.

His adoption fee is $500 and he’s desexed, recently vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and registered.
