About Jango
Our resident curly boy is ready to find his forever home! Jango came to us as part of a large operation to shut down a puppy farm in rural NSW. Despite his poor start to life, arriving matted and unsure of the world, he has come on leaps and bounds thanks to his dedicated carers.
Arriving in Sydney and slotting into family life was a bit of shock to the system for Jango. Over the last couple of months, he has built up some much-needed confidence and now enjoys all the finer things a pet home has to offer and is quite confident and funny! Jango is a breeze to have at home and is always up for some cuddles. He is currently living the high life and enjoys being tucked into his carer’s bed at night, electric blanket on and snuggled under the doona!
Being young and having had limited exposure as a pup, he will need owners who can continue to expose him to the big wide world slowly and appropriately. If he feels overwhelmed, they will need to work with him to build his confidence. Jango absolutely loves his daily walks and has been taken on many fun adventures including bush walking and swimming. Generally, he is a typical playful puppy, but loud noises or very busy areas can sometimes get the better of him. Up until recently, he did bark at things that scared him on a walk, such as bikes or some other dogs, but this has ceased now that he is more settled in and confident. The move to his new home may cause the barking to reappear so we are looking for experienced handlers who can ensure this gets nipped in the bud if it happens.
Jango is in foster care with a golden retriever and has had a small breed dog staying over for a holiday too. He gets on with both of them famously and really finds security with having another dog around the home – no surprise there considering his background. We will be looking for a home with at least one other confident and well-trained resident dog to help Jango’s transition. Any resident dog should be over the age of two years old. Out and about Jango has now discovered other dogs are lots of fun and not scary. Initially he was a bit put off by smaller dogs and could be a little hesitant at first with new dogs understandably, but never aggressive. Now he’s found his confidence, he enjoys meeting and playing with dogs of all sizes. His new owners should continue to gently socialise him and avoid places like dog parks at least until he is settled in his new home and he has built that bond with his new family.
Jango is a very smart and inquisitive boy. His carers have been hard at work teaching him basic training which is coming along well. He is toilet trained (the only couple of accidents have been when he didn’t have outdoor access) and he sleeps through the night. He can get very excited at the sight of his meals, so his new family should continue to teach him to sit and wait patiently while the bowl goes down. Jango is a bit of a shadow and loves to be with his people; however, he is fine home alone for a few hours and has been left up to 6 hours with the resident dog. He may cry a little initially but settles down very quickly. Due to his background and need for security, he will need someone home most of the time, especially during the settling in period. Jango does suffer from car sickness and will need owners committed to continuing gentle exposure to the car, possibly in conjunction with some anti-nausea meds, while he becomes more comfortable with the experience. Being a non/low shedding type, (we are told he is a cavoodle) Jango has a higher maintenance coat which requires daily brushing and regular grooming. He will need an owner who can continue to meet these grooming requirements, understanding both the time and financial obligations involved.
Although Jango is small, cute and loves to cuddle up on your lap or get some belly rubs, be is still a young and intelligent puppy, so will need owners who can keep up with his physical and mental needs. He is not suitable for someone looking for a lap dog for an elderly person. While he hasn’t met any kids while in care, we feel he would be ok with older, quieter children. He will need to go on walks every day and be provided with a high-quality diet. He will also need to be allowed inside as part of the family and provided a bed inside to sleep on at nighttime. Jango is just the most amazing little puppy who has been developing well in a loving and experienced foster home. He is well on the way to being an amazing doggy citizen.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
