About Earl & Grey
Introducing Earl and Grey, two stunning charcoal teenage brothers who are looking for their new family. Each has their own unique personality; however, the two are inseparable and rely heavily on each other for comfort and play.
These brothers are timid and shy at first, especially in new environments or around new people. Prospective owners should understand that Earl and Grey will need some time to settle and to grow comfortable in their new home. With patience, they are bound to come around and shower you with all the affection they can muster.
The ideal family for these boys would be a peaceful home without young kids or dogs. They need a calm environment where the focus is on them and their well-being.
Earl and Grey must remain indoor cats; once comfortable they love to explore the nooks and crannies of a home, ensuring that living indoors will not be a bore for them.

Medical notes
Grey has distichae (extra eyelashes growing from abnormal parts of the eye). This has resulted in some eyelashes rubbing on his cornea. He has shown some episodes of discomfort (squinting) but these episodes appear to be short-lived and did not require further medical intervention. He appears to be otherwise well and comfortable. He also appears to have mild cataracts in the lens of his eyes.
Advice was sought from a veterinary ophthalmologist in regards to the management of this condition.
Earl is FIV+ and has some congenital deformities of his eyes. He appears to be slightly cross eyed but this does not appear to affect his ability to see and move around well. He has upper eyelid agenesis (eyelids did not form properly) and his right eye appears to be more affected. This has resulted in some cilia/fur rubbing on the cornea. The hairs appear to be soft and not causing too much discomfort to Earl at this stage. He also has distichia (eyelashes growing from abnormal parts of the eye) on his upper right eyelid that appeared to point towards his cornea. They have been plucked once before and this appeared to make the right eye more comfortable. He has since remained comfortable and we have not had to repeat this procedure. He has mild cataracts in both eyes. Further advice was sought from a veterinary ophthalmologist in terms of management of these conditions.
One of our fantastic Vet's will discuss the boys conditions and answer any questions with their new owners.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
