About Koda
Meet Koda,
About: Koda is a lovely dog, she is friendly, happy & playful. Koda is usually gentle, a teeny bit aloof & independent as she likes to do her own thing. When first meeting you Koda will be excited, social and affectionate - she loves to say hello to new people.
Koda is best suited to someone who has dog ownership experience. Koda is also suitable for any household environment as she is quite resilient. Active people can be happy knowing that Koda will happily join you on the days adventures.
Ideal Home: Koda is best to live in a house or on a farm/acreage, with high secure fencing & a large yard. Fencing should be colourbond or made out of material that cannot be climbed.
Koda would love to be able to spend time with her new family and she would make a great dog to live almost full-time inside the home. She is at her best when she is around people who make her feel safe & welcome.
Family: Koda is open to meet kids from 10 years & up, this is because she can be jumpy when she gets excited & boisterous.
Koda is also fine to live with people who work part-time.
Furry Friends: Koda is best to be the only dog in the home. During her dog assessment Koda indicated that she is not a fan of other dogs but to her credit she was able to check in with her handler to let them know that she was not comfy. This is a trait that she has picked up in her previous home & we have a sneaking suspicion that her previous owner did some work with her. Whilst Koda is not a fan of other dogs she is respectful towards them but doesn't want to be friends with them.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Koda would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners. However, as she doesn't like other dogs, she may not like cats either but as we can't test this theory it's hard for us to confirm.
Training & Development: Koda would benefit from post-adoption training, such as training as home to cover basic commands/obedience and one on one professional training regarding her reactivity to other dogs, as mentioned Koda is respectful when she meets another dog, but to alleviate any stress she may feel a professional can guide Koda & her new owners in the right direction.
Koda knows her name, she always knows how to 'sit'. Koda is food motivated, so having treats on hand during training sessions would be a great idea as she responds to them.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Koda has medium energy levels and she would benefit from exercise, play or walking from 30-60mins a day to keep her entertained & happy. Koda is food motivated so giving her treat puzzles when alone would be a great idea to keep her mind engaged. Koda isn't too interested in toys - she prefers human interaction & attention.
Koda walks ok on a lead, but is strong, she is best walked on a martingale.
Staff Comments: Koda is a sweet girl who needs a home to give her all the love in the world. She was let down by her previous owner & she deserves a second chance with a patient & understanding owner.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
