About Lawson
Meet Lawson,
Lawson is one very chilled out boy! He is gentle, sweet, loving & just a very happy chappy. Lawson is friendly and outgoing and loves to explore & play. He is curious, as most cats are, very social, affectionate & engaging.
Lawson is suitable for first time cat owner or those who have experience. He is also fine to live in any household all thanks to his easy-going nature but may prefer the quieter homes as he himself is calm & quiet and a bit sensitive to loud noises.
Lawson is open to meet kids of any age, but kids should made aware that Lawson sustained an injury to his tail prior to coming into the ACF. Our vet has assessed & it doesn't appear to affect him in anyway unless it gets touched. He'll let you know that he doesn't like it by moving away from you. For more info, please read the medical waiver below.
Apart from his tail, Lawson would make a great friend for kids! He loves all & any attention, he is soft, gentle & fun, he loves to be picked up, carried and cuddles and he especially loves his cheeks being scratched but will gladly accept ANY form of affection from you.
As we are unable to test in this environment, it is hard for us to know whether Lawson would be fine to live with/meet dogs. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners. When out in the cat park, Lawson became would timid when he heard the dogs barking, nothing bad happened, but he became very alert and on edge. This is also probably due to his sensitivity to noise.
Lawson has previously lived with other cats, in fact he came in with his sister Psalm. While she has decided that she is no longer cat friendly, Lawson remains open to make new friends. As always we encourage a slow & controlled introduction to pre-existing cats in the home.
Lawson is best to be an inside only cat. While he is chill and calm, he also appears to have selective hearing, aka, he'll come to you when he wants to. Being outside also opens him up to the possibility of him running away, getting lost, injured or worse. So keeping him inside will not only ensure his safety, but his happiness as well.
Lawson has medium energy levels and you'll find him playing with his favourite toys which are little plush toys, foam balls, feathers or wand toys.
Lawson is not fussy with his food, he loves all food on offer and he does the occasional meow, but is mostly quiet (apart from his purring). He is also neat & tidy as he always uses his litter tray!
Staff Comments: Lawson is a loving, cuddly cat that has short bursts of play time. He would love to spend all day being cuddled & loved!
Medical notes
Medical: Lawson sustained an injury to the tip of his tail prior to coming into care at the Campbelltown Animal Care Facility. Our vet did a few tests which all came back negative for any organisms/infection. The injury appears to only affect the tip of his tail. This injury is similar to getting your finger stuck in door/drawer. Our vet has stated that the injury does not affect Lawson's quality of life, Lawson does not need pain relief and there is a high chance that with time the sensation that Lawson feels, when his tail is touched, will subside.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
