About Roxy
Hi, I'm Opal!
Just like my namesake, there are so many different shades me. I can be sweet, affectionate, shy, energetic and a scaredy-cat all at the same time!
I was surrendered by no fault of my own and find the shelter a bit stressful. New situations and people make me just a little bit nervous. With patience, kindness, and gentle encouragement, I know I can become a devoted and loving companion; I just need someone to take a chance on me.
What was that?? I can get a bit spooked at times, and loud noises scare me. I hope that my new owners can take it slow with me and help me gain my confidence!
I dream of a furrever home with a big backyard and someone to play fetch with me alllll day long, and then someone to cuddle up with at night. Kelpies like me are high energy and smart dogs so i would love a home where my new family really puts my smarts to the test! Lots of running, playing, daily walks, mental enrichment and training would be fantastic! While I'm not exactly at the cuddle bug stage, I know I'll get there in no time with the right people.
Speaking of the right people, young children might be too much for me right now. Secondary school aged and older who can give me the space and paitence I need would be wonderful. As I can be a little bit of a nervous-nelly, I would prefer a home with no other dogs right now. I need to focus on myself (and you!) before I could ever contemplate another doggy housemate.
If you are the type of person that sometimes loves to exercise, but then other times just wants to sit on the couch and watch movie all weekend, then sometimes want spend all day in the garden, but then other times want to just read a book .. then I am your gal! You will never get bored with me.
Come and meet me today!
