About Rooster
Little Rooster is just the sweetest little man around.
This boy has a soft character with a lot of love to give his owner coupled with a playful side. Rooster wants all the cuddles and is super loveable. He greets you at the door with enthusiasm and joy that you have come home. When you are sitting around, he will dig his little face into your legs to get some attention or paw at your hand lovingly. Initially, Rooster was shy with strangers; however, he now welcomes visitors to the home with open paws and a waggy tail. This beautiful boy loves a fun game of fetch, and he sits up like a little meerkat while he waits for his ball to be thrown. Rooster also loves fetching all his toys and you find them piled up on his bed like his little trophies. You can’t help but fall in love with this little fellow.
Rooster has come from a multi-dog household and is currently living with another dog. He has tried to get the little dog in his foster home to play with him, but she’s not really interested. Rooster would be able to live in a home with another small doggie friend, preferably a female, who is easy-going in nature. Once he knows who he gets all the love and affection from, Rooster can be a little rude in trying to keep it all to himself from another dog. This is currently easy enough to manage; however, could turn into resource guarding behaviour if correct guidance is not given to him. Rooster enjoys having a doggie friend around for companionship and we think he would enjoy some playtime with another small dog.
While in our care, Rooster’s foster carer has focused on building his confidence. He came from a backyard home in far western NSW so everything in the city has been new for him. Rooster is learning to sit on command and walk more confidently on the lead out and about. He would be best suited to living in a quieter area where he can continue to build his confidence. Rooster loves to go for car rides and enjoys looking out the window to watch the world go by. He loves having a safe place to cuddle up at home, like his bed or cubby, and at night he sleeps soundly through in his crate.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Rooster where he will be a loved companion to his new owner. He would be benefit from a home where someone is home more often than not as he really loves to be by your side. If he were to live as an only dog his new owners would need to be around most of the time, at least during the settling in period, as he has never lived as an only dog before. He would also be likely to regress in confidence in this situation so his owner would need to be more patient and give him time and support to adjust. Rooster has an easy coat to maintain which just needs the occasional bath and brush.
Rooster should be allowed inside to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. He is best suited to an adult only home as kids can be a bit too overwhelming for this softie. Rooster is not suited to inner city living and would love to find a quiet home where his true personality can continue to blossom. There is a loving, affectionate and funny little dog here who is ready to meet his new best friend.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
