About Trudy Blue - 4 Year Old Cattle Dog
Meet Trudy Blue: Your New Best Friend!
Are you looking for an active, loyal, and intelligent companion? Look no further! Trudy Blue is a delightful 4-year-old Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dog eager to find her forever home. Weighing in at 14 kilos, she’s pocket-sized for her breed, but has the personality of a dog twice her size!
Trudy Blue is the perfect match for an active family or individual who enjoys the outdoors and is looking for a loving and loyal companion. Trudy is a classic Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dog, and would benefit from a family with breed experience. She is playful and thrives on physical and mental stimulation, and would be an excellent partner for activities like hiking, running, and agility training.
Her favourite activities include chasing flirt poles, transforming into a pocket-rocket for zoomies, sniff walks and playing hide and seek with her favourite toys or treats! She sits very politely while waiting for you to hide her toy, and celebrates when she finds it by wagging her tail nub. Trudy Blue is a creature of home comforts and loves to settle in for a cuddle at the end of the day.
While she did not have much training prior to coming to us, Trudy is a very quick learner, and she loves learning new tricks and commands. She has mastered ‘sit’ and has learned ‘down’, ‘stay’ and ‘touch’ while in foster care. She is still practicing ‘go to bed, ‘go to crate’ and other commands but is making good progress! She knows her name and comes when called, but does still need to practice this around distractions. She is also learning how to behave in a house, so might need ongoing help with toilet training and boundaries, but she is improving each day!
She is crate trained and sleeps through the night in her crate, after she's made a nest in her comfy blankets! She walks well on a leash, but chase instincts can kick in when she gets too close to moving vehicles, so she needs a strong walker.
Trudy is child-friendly with kids of all ages, but due to her excitability, would best suit homes with children over 5. She is also dog friendly and shows an interest in dogs of all sizes, she would benefit from controlled socialisation to help her learn her manners, or a doggy friend with similar energy levels and play style. She needs secure fencing to keep her safe.
Trudy travels well in the car, and is happy to settle down for a nap in the back seat! She does well left alone, so would suit part time or full time workers, if left with enrichment activities.
Trudy is a very adaptable dog. She would do well on a farm or property with space to run, provided she is allowed inside to be part of her family, but would also do well in a normal yard with enough enrichment and exercise.
She looooves meeting new people and making new friends, stealing hearts everywhere she goes! She is great company for cafe trips and soaks in all the attention she gets. She can't help that she's adorable!
