About Turvey
Turvey is looking for a very specific home that can meet his needs, Please read all of his profile and apply if you can meet all of his needs. It is important his new home has a small friendly dog. Homes without a suitable dog will not be considered.
Turvey must have the following in his new home, Please tell us how you meet these needs in your reply.
Must have small, confident, friendly, desexed dog living in the home.
- People either experienced with timid dogs or have an understanding of their needs.
- A safe, patient and loving environment.
- Have the ability and space to fed Turvey in his own space.
- A quiet, calm house with no children and have few visitors.
- Not expecting Turvey to walk on lead and to provide enrichment in the home.
- A home with a doggy door and free access to inside and outside.
Turvey came into our care extremely timid and he is looking for a very understanding family, or someone that has had experience with timid dogs. He came into our care very frightened and not used to human contact.
He needs someone who will be happy being able to offer him a safe, loving home without having too many expectations, but will enjoy watching him interact with another dog and slowly come out of his shell.
Turvey finds comfort and security being around confident, friendly, playful small dogs, similar size to him. He loves his foods and treats and has started approaching his carers when they have food or treats, and they are now able to pat him on occasions which he is starting to enjoy. He has also been known to sneak a lay on their lap while they watch TV. Turvey enjoys being around people doing his own thing but he still has a built-in fear of being touched and won’t seek it out.
Turvey loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home, his favourite game is chase. He also loves his rope toys and will often bring them back to his bed when he is finished playing with them. Turvey likes to eat in his own space away from other dogs and people.
Turvey gets anxious around people he doesn’t know and takes a long time to feel comfortable in their presence, he would prefer a home who have few visitors and to have a safe space he can go to if there are visitors in the home. He is too scared for lead walks even with encouragement from his carers and his doggy friends going with him, he would prefer to stay in his yard that is familiar and play chase with his doggy friends.
Turvey is looking for a home with a doggy door, he loves to have the freedom of going outside when it pleases him to either toilet, play or sun bake and then return to inside when he is ready to see what his people are doing and have a snooze on his doggy bed, his preference is to spend more time inside.
Turvey is friendly towards cats, but cats can’t replace his need for resident doggy friends.
Turvey has a beautiful gentle nature, but needs to be in a calm quiet home with another desexed dog, no children, and patient understanding people.
