About Betty Boop
Betty Boop ( previously known as #362)
Well, what a journey we have had with this little Miss.
Betty arrived on our transport run on the 15th of June and we very quickly realized she was not the little staffy we had expected.
Yes, she is little ( well by our standards anyway ) at around 14kg – but those ears and teeth had us scratching our heads and searching the paperwork again.
Betty is 2 years old and is chipped as a French bulldog – got to love those Gumtree Breeders.
We can see some Frenchie in her but probably some red heeler and staffy too.
Regardless she is a gorgeous little girl and a total Diva.
Betty Boop was born to be a Princess and we are tasked with completing this Rags to Riches Fairytale.
However, as with all Fairy tales, there is a twist in the “tail “ – Betty is the first dog we have had from NSW that has tested Heartworm Positive.
As an ethical rescue, we routinely heartworm test all our adult dogs before treating them for it – it's an extra cost but an important one we commit to.
Betty ended up having 5 tests as they swung between positive and negative, so it’s a faint positive but positive.
The treatment is relatively simple but is spread over 12 months with monthly blood tests – aside from that she is happy and healthy and lives a totally normal life.
And this is where we have a conundrum.
We cannot adopt Betty out until she is clear of heartworm and whilst her carer loves her she is not and never was in a position to adopt a 3rd dog.
So we are looking for a long term foster to adopt who can “foster” Betty for the next 10 months with a view to adopting when the heartworm is clear.
Because this little Miss is so ready to start her forever and we can't let a few pesky little heartworms spoil her journey.
So let us talk about this Princess in Waiting.
She is sweet, loving, loyal, quirky, funny, full of life, and has a face that .. well she has a Frenchie face!
Betty is a bit on the bossy side and whilst she has settled beautifully with the two boy dogs she is in care with, she can be a little feisty if other dogs don’t play nice.
She would do well with another larger male dog who won’t take diva nonsense or also as an only dog – but she will need careful socialization as the big world does make her anxious.
Betty is a Velcro dog with her people, she adores human company and is just the best little mate to hang out with.
She is playful, cheeky, entertaining, and a real snuggler.
Betty needs an experienced owner who has lots of time and attention to give her – she has had a wobbly start to life and stability is going to be a great healer.
Betty is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date with all her treatments.
Her adoption fee ( on completion of heartworm treatment ) will be $595.
She is located in Woody Point (North Brisbane) – if you would like to meet her, please tell us all about yourself and the wonderful life she could share with you.
