Meet Lola,
About: Lola was actually missing for 6 months prior to coming into the ACF, however her owner was unable to reclaim her as her circumstances had changed during that time. So Lola is ready for her second chance!
Lola is a lovely, gentle girl who is a little bit nervous & a little bit shy. We are seeing her grow in confidence each & every day though. Lola is happy & friendly, she gives the best cuddles and she is curious about the world around her. She can get a little excited at times, but overall she is super affectionate and loves to engage with you.
Lola is best suited to an experienced owner, someone who has owned dogs before. She is also best suited to a household that is calm & quiet as she can be a little sensitive to noise.
Ideal Home: Lola is best to live in a house or on a farm/acreage, with a medium to large yard & high secure fencing.
Indoor access is super important to this sweet angel, as she would love nothing more than to be inside with her new family, being loved like she always deserved!
Family: Lola is open to meet kids from 8-10 years of age. Reason for this is due to her mild timidity, her sensitivity to loud noises and sudden movements.
Lola is also fine to live with people who work part-time.
Furry Friends: Lola is best to be the only dog in the home. Lola's timidity is too much for her right now to allow her to make dog friends. During her dog assessment is was clear that her lack of confidence got in the way.
She is able to be walked around other dogs without issue it is when they are up close that you start to see her confidence plummet and she becomes stressed.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Lola would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Lola would benefit from post-adoption training, such as training at home to expand on her basic commands & obedience.
Lola knows her name, she also knows how to 'sit'. She is food motivated so having treats on you during training sessions would be a great idea! And although rare she may jump up to say hello when you first meet her, but she is gentle when doing so.
She is also quite a quiet dog - we rarely hear her bark.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Lola has mid-range energy levels and she would benefit from walks, play time or exercise from 30-60mins a day. Her favourite toys are hard chew toys that she can spend hours on, or personal play with her human friends.
Lola walks well on a lead, with minimal pulling and is fine to be walked with a collar & lead.
Staff Comments: Lola is a sweet, quiet girl who would rather curl up on the lounge than play. She is a lovely dog who is so deserving of a home. She is incredibly gentle too. She will need basic obedience and ongoing socialisation and exposure to new people & environments to build her confidence.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C3 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
