About Big Mac
Meet Big Mac,
Big Mac is a purrfect match for people who are new to cat ownership. He is easy going and is suitable for any household environment too! Despite his size, Big Mac is incredibly gentle. He is a big, friendly boy who is happy & confident.
Big Mac is open to meet kids and he LOVES to be picked up, carried, cuddled & petted. He will roll over in your arms and soak up all of your love & attention. He gets so excited when you open up his condo and he'll start making biccies to show you how content and happy he is. He is a social butterfly, he is happy to say hello to everyone he meets.
Big Mac may show how much he appreciates you by chatting to you through out the day, these little chirps are the sweetest thing to hear as he loves to engage with you.
Big Mac doesn't appear to be too fussed about meeting other cats, you'll often hear him chirping to the other cats in the cattery. He is also easy-breezy, so we think that with a slow intro to other cats he'll be able to make friends in no time!
In this environment though it is hard for us to test how Big Mac would go living with a dog, this would be up to the discretion of his new owners. However, when he was in the cat park he did not seem too miffed about hearing the dogs barking as he roamed the cat park like he owned it.
As always we recommend that Big Mac be an inside cat. His personality can definitely handle the outside world, but an inside cat is also a safe cat. Big Mac way wander off if he is outdoors. He may get lost, injured, or worse. Big Mac would be happy inside, safe & sound with a comfy bed, the lounge or even your lap!
Big Mac has low energy levels - when he is not snoozing you may catch him gently playing with a feather toy but he prefers human touch & interaction...
When it comes to food, Big Mac is not fussy at all - and he always uses his litter tray.
Staff Comments: Big Mac is a big loveable boy who rolls over & drools the more you pat him. He takes everything in his stride. He is very chill & a bit lazy!
Medical notes
Recovered Cat Flu: Historically cat flu has had a negative reputation and can often deter people from adopting; but you wouldn’t actually be able to tell a recovered cat flu cat from a non-cat flu cat. The truth is that many cat flu cats will live happy, healthy, long lives in their new home. So, what is it? Cat flu is caused by a virus. Humans can’t catch it, but other cats can; but only if the cat is showing flu symptoms. Stressful situations like desexing, or a dramatic change in environment can lead to a recovered cat experiencing cat flu again, but this is usually short lived and rarely requires medical intervention. Most cats will recover on their own providing their vaccines are up to date.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
