About Haze
Meet Haze,
Where do we even start with this little fluff ball of love?! Haze is gentle, sweet, friendly & outgoing. He is confident, oh-so curious and social. He is so affectionate that we couldn't even snap a photo without him being cuddled or petted as that is when he feels most content.
He is suitable for first time owners or those with experience and he is best suited to a quiet & calm home. Despite his confidence loud noises do startle him.
Haze is open to meet kids of any age, and he loves to be picked up, cuddled, carried and petted. He loves people so much and he gets so happy when he sees you coming towards his condo that he starts prancing around. As soon as the condo door is open it's all purrs, biscuits & head butts. He is known to be a very happy cat in general, but nothing compares to the way he melts into you with just a touch. All he wants to do is be close to you.
He has previously lived with cats, in fact he lived with Hawk (ID: 11300). He doesn't appear too interested in other cats because he has tunnel vision for anyone that is human. Because humans = pats. However this big, soft boy doesn't have a mean bone in his body and we are positive that he could live with other cats, but a slow & gradual introduction will be recommended.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Haze would go living with dogs. All that we do know is that he doesn't like loud noises and he reacts negatively to dogs barking. So we are leaning towards him & dogs being a no-no, but maybe if the dog was on the quieter side; but as we say, this would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Haze should be inside only. When tested in our cat park he looked very uncomfortable, the noise was unsettling for him and he did try & flee. As soon as he was back inside, it was like the outside experience did not happen and he was back to purring & asking for cuddles.
Haze's energy needs are medium; because he can't say no to a wand toy! Haze is not fussy when it comes to food, all food is great and he loves Greenies treats too.
He is also very tidy, always using his litter tray.
Medical notes
Recovered Cat Flu: Historically cat flu has had a negative reputation and can often deter people from adopting; but you wouldn’t actually be able to tell a recovered cat flu cat from a non-cat flu cat. The truth is that many cat flu cats will live happy, healthy, long lives in their new home. So, what is it? Cat flu is caused by a virus. Humans can’t catch it, but other cats can; but only if the cat is showing flu symptoms. Stressful situations like desexing, or a dramatic change in environment can lead to a recovered cat experiencing cat flu again, but this is usually short lived and rarely requires medical intervention. Most cats will recover on their own providing their vaccines are up to date.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
