About Jock
Allow us to introduce you to our incredibly handsome little man, Jock. thelittle Jack Russell x
Jock is, without a doubt, one of the sweetest little lads you could ever hope to meet. His charm is absolutely irresistible, and he possesses a unique ability to win over everyone he encounters. Jock truly embodies the essence of a lap dog; he adores being close to people and will happily sit on you, stand on you, or simply be in your immediate vicinity at all times. His affectionate nature is evident in his love for giving kisses and spending quality time cuddling on the couch.
Jock also has a playful side; he enjoys playing with his toys and will enthusiastically rip the stuffing out of his soft toys if given the chance! Despite his playful antics, Jock is exceptionally well-behaved in the home and is not destructive, with the exception of his poor stuffed toys. He is house-trained, provided he has access to the outdoors. Jock has a strong preference for being indoors, where he can spend as much time as possible with his human companions. He is also well-mannered around food and will patiently sit for treats, showcasing his polite demeanor.
When it comes to car rides, Jock is unfazed as long as he is securely fastened. He is content to ride along with you, enjoying the journey and the sights along the way. Jock has a genuine love for meeting new people and has no trouble making himself at home wherever he goes. Although he can get quite excited and may jump around initially, he quickly settles down. While he has not been tested with children, we feel he’s best suited to older kids who can understand and respect his space.
Jock is an intelligent boy who has responded positively to training. He knows commands such as “sit” and “wait” for his dinner and would benefit from continued training to further enhance his skills. As a Jack Russell, he has a keen sense of smell and excels at sniffing out treats hidden in the garden, making playtime both fun and rewarding for him.
On walks, Jock is generally good on the lead, although he can sometimes become frightened of other dogs and may bark at them. His recall is not the best, so we recommend keeping him on a lead when outside the house. Jock requires very slow introductions to new dogs when on lead, as he can be a bit apprehensive at first and may react out of fear. He is best introduced on a walk side by side with some distance between you. Once comfortable with other dogs, he will want to engage in play. He is currently living with another female dog and has settled well. He has gotten along well with multiple different dogs, showing his potential to enjoy other furry friends. We suggest groups obedience training as a great way to training and socialisation our boy.
The ideal home for Jock would be with a family who will continue to train him and work on his socialization skills with other dogs. A family with dog experience would be ideal, as they can understand and cater to his needs. Jock thrives on human companionship and would do best in a home where someone is home more often than not. He doesn’t bark excessively but may dig out, so a very secure fencing and garden are essential to keep him safe. A doggy door could possibly help him feel more settled and secure when people go out.
We will consider a small yard for Jock, but apartment living with no yard is not suitable for him. With the right environment and plenty of love, Jock will undoubtedly thrive and bring immense joy to his new family. He is a wonderful little dog with a big heart, ready to share his love and affection with a family that will cherish him as much as he will cherish them.
