About Cannon
Introducing the handsome Cannon!
Cannon is an American Staffy x born 3rd March 2020.
Cannon was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray & no one came looking for him. Cannon was incredibly scared & did not trust humans when he arrived. With slow & consistent socialising we have been able to gain his trust. He's now making friends with our volunteers & visitors to the facility as well. As we don't know much about Cannon's history, we are recommending a home where they will continue to guide him with love & patience. Cannon is already house trained & he has become a total snuggle bug since being in foster care. His carer has said this about Cannon meeting new people "he's curious and friendly but very wary (with me he's just a big sook that wants to be patted and cuddled all the time)".
Cannon didn't test great with other dogs. He was quite reactive towards large male dogs, however he was fairly calm when meeting a smaller female, he just didn't pay attention to her trying to set personal space boundaries. Given his reaction with the several dogs he's met, we're recommending he be the only dog at home. He may be able to have a canine friend in the future if further training & controlled socialising is given.
Cannon seemed a little scared of the cats, however he did stare at them quite intently to start with. He looked in their enclosure & slowly backed away. We believe that with a slow & controlled introduction he could potentially be suitable to live with cats. *Please note: our cat testing is done through an enclosure, we cannot guarantee how he will react if they were free roaming in front of him.
He is currently untested with pocket pets.
Cannon has shown no signs of food aggression towards humans or separation anxiety while at the facility or in foster care.
Cannon's adoption fee is $450 and includes his desexing and lifetime registration.
Cannon is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
