About 👅Gordito👅
Unfortunately our beefy boy Gordito is looking for a new home after a relationship breakdown. While it is not the outcome we hope for when completing an adoption we commit to our animals for the entirety of their life whether in our care or not so we are looking for a special family to welcome him into their home. Gordito will turn 5 in June and is looking for an all adult home where he can be an active part of the family. He is a big cuddler and loves to lay on top of you while you watch tv. He would be happy to share your bed at night but he would be equally happy in a comfy bed inside too.
Outside the home, Gordito is dog social and will happily walk with and around other respectful and calm dogs (although he prefers not to associate with golden retrievers). However, Gordito has previously had some negative experiences with other dogs which has resulted in his feeling the need to protect what’s his. For this reason he must be the only pet in his new home to ensure that he feels safe and secure. Gordito understands that humans need to work and he’s happy to stay at home as long as they enrich him in other ways like toys. He especially loves soft toys and spends time suckling them to self soothe. He will need indoor/outdoor access as he is happy to play in the yard or take himself to the toilet throughout the day. However, in warmer weather he should have access to air conditioned spaces!
Gordito loves to be wherever you are and loves to go on daily walks. He will accompany you to your weekend brunch or down to the park or beach for a stroll for a change of pace. He is very food motivated and intelligent so he will be a willing participant in ongoing training too!
Gordito is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with his parasite treatments. Gordito has previously had entropion surgery on both his eyes which was successful and won’t need any further treatment to address. Gordito has had successful surgery to correct his Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) which removed his tonsils, part of his soft palate, laryngeal saccules and widened his nostrils. He is able to run and play much easier but will still need accommodations in hot weather like any flat-faced dog does.
If you think you could be the perfect match for Gordito, please fill in an adoption application and we’ll be in touch to discuss.
