About Bridgette
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Bridgette
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound
BREED: American Staffordshire Terrier x Mastiff
American Staffordshire Terriers are quite high energy, playful, affectionate and intelligent but do require training as they can be headstrong. They are very social with adults and children and are extremely loyal but can suffer from separation anxiety if left for long periods. Their sociability with dogs is a facet that needs work from an early age.
Mastiffs are good-natured, affectionate, dignified, and protective - being bred as a guardian to family. He will mature into a calm and quiet dog who loves being with his people. He can be aloof to strangers and wary of unknown dogs so early socialisation with people and dogs is essential. Mastiffs can be mouthy so obedience training and clear boundaries are a must. They do not like being alone and are definitely inside dogs. If not exercised and lonely they will pine and be destructive. They are not for novice owners.

ASSETS: Bridgette is described as affectionate, friendly, active, playful and very bright. She has been described as the perfect dog. She is a real cutie pie who adores her person.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Bridgette loves to go for walks and play with her doggy friends. She also enjoys her toys and loves to throw her favourite ones around – she enjoys a tug o’ war with her rope toy, but best of all she loves a snuggle and snooze with her person!
ENDEARING FEATURES: She loves to meet new people and playful, friendly dogs. She is very loyal and loves to sit on your feet when relaxing at home. She is a very affectionate, loving dog who wants to please.
OTHER ANIMALS: She is social with other friendly dogs and enjoys a playtime with them. She has been fostered with other dogs but really prefers to be the one and only and get all the attention - she flourishes in this situation. She has not been cat tested. She did live for a short time on a small holding with several dogs and was used to seeing goats and cows in the paddock and chickens in the coop but was not given access.
GENERAL INFO: Bridgette's training is going really well; she has learned some commands and is turning into a very well-behaved girl. She has been walked regularly on the lead and is housetrained and crate trained (she sleeps in her crate at night) and has access to the garden through a doggy door. She does love to be with her people and is learning to spend time alone outside when her carer is out. She loves to dig so a designated space such as a sand pit would make this girl very happy. She also loves to run at the beach but hasn't yet taken to the water. We would love her to have the opportunity to attend training classes as we think Bridgette would excel. We expect Bridgette to be medium sized when fully grown.
ESSENTIALS for Bridgette:
** a loving home where someone is there for part of the day until she is settled - good exercise will make this transition possible.
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized well fenced garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore with a designated digging area if possible
** attendance at training classes, continuing into adulthood for her to learn and to show you what a smart cookie she is
** daily play and walks to burn off her energy. She will probably have a medium energy level as an adult dog.
Bridgette has not been fostered with children but could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 10 years of age who will play and interact with her respectfully and know when to give her space.
If Bridgette sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
