About Hope
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE, HOWEVER WE CAN ENDEAVOUR TO ARRANGE TRANSPORT BY ROAD TO THE PERTH AREA.
NAME: Hope
ADOPTION FEE: $750.00
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Kelpie – working line
BREED TRAITS: Kelpies are high energy and highly intelligent being a working breed, so may need to be found a 'job' to make them feel fulfilled. They get bored easily if their brains are not worked, so training is a must. They are very social with adults and children and generally social with other dogs. They are very loyal but if the instinct is strong they may try to herd your children
*************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, friendly, outgoing, active, playful and very sweet pretty much sums this gorgeous girl up, she’s an absolute darling who will continue to grow with training and guidance from her new owner, but has come on in leaps and bounds in foster care. She does get very excited when first meeting people and jumps up so will need some training with this.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Hope loves to ride in the car and go for bushwalks and to the beach with her foster carer. She also loves to play with balls and sticks and does get pretty fixated on them so will need to have other activities to keep her active mind busy. She has seen some kites flying in Esperance recently and is fascinated and wants to chase them. She’s also very cheeky and loves to steal other dogs’ toys.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She’s a really clever girl and is very expressive. She’s also very entertaining and it’s great fun having her around.
OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with other friendly dogs once she’s had a supervised introduction and is comfortable with them but sometimes dislikes attention from interested male dogs. She hasn’t been around cats and due to her excitedness we won’t home her with any small animals.
GENERAL INFO: Hope’s lead work and command training is improving but ongoing training is a must for her. She is housetrained. She barks to get attention, at strange noises and when someone is at the door. She is being fostered in a home where she has someone around most of the day so will not cope with full time workers. Being a working line full breed Kelpie her exercise and training will require commitment.
ESSENTIALS for Hope:
** An active, loving home where someone is there most of the day or can take her with them when out. Being a Kelpie she will need good exercise and mental stimulation, she currently has 2-3 good runs per day.
** She could live with another friendly dog but would be more than happy to be the only dog and get all the attention. At present she is used to be the focus of the home so will take some adjustment if sharing the love.
** An owner who will continue to train her and build on the great progress she has made in care - classes where she can learn new things in a safe environment would be great for her.
** Being an active girl, she needs good daily exercise and mental activity so an active home that is willing to involve her in family activities.
** Hope needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore or be closely supervised on a property, with no access to livestock.
** Hope loves to be with her people so needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
Hope could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 12 years who are old enough to recognize her signals and give her space if she needs it. Due to her habit of jumping up and the fact that she hasn’t been raised with children she won’t be suited around younger children.
If Hope sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
