About Enzo

Enzo is a beautiful little 8-month-old boy who has had a rough start. Enzo was bred at a puppy farm, and lived there until he was 4 months old, extremely thin and with minimal hair when he was purchased. Enzo’s life should have been better from then forward, and although he was fed and his hair grew back, Enzo’s life of isolation and confinement didn’t end there.
Enzo was purchased by a teenager that didn’t have time to look after him, with no fencing and no interest in Enzo after 4 days, his last 4 months have seen him confined to the kitchen in a home, only being let out on lead to toilet if they remembered (not often). Enzo had never been for walks, never met other dogs, never been outside off lead, he was living an extremely sheltered life and was incredibly shutdown when faced with the world outside the room that was his existence.
Enzo has now been in GSRV foster care for a few weeks, his life has done a complete 180 and he is embracing the change like a fish to water. Once a scared, shutdown pup that wasn’t sure of strangers, Enzo has shown himself to be the most affectionate little boy, his absolute favourite activity is snuggling on the couch. Whilst still a little unsure when meeting strangers, after a quick sniff and a treat to help sweeten the deal, Enzo is soon asking for pats and attention from everyone. Enzo is now ready to find his forever home, with a patient, loving family that can continue to help bring him out of his shell. Enzo would be best suited to a stable household with a consistent routine, where everyone is over the age of 10 years old.
Enzo has lived such a sheltered life and is slowly being exposed to the outside world and all the strange noises and movements that come along with it. At times, he can still be jumpy around noises, if he sees something he is unsure of, he will stop and stare, trying to work out what it is. Enzo is very keen to learn about the world around him and is looking for someone special that can help introduce him slowly and at his own pace. Enzo loves treats and needs to practice building positive associations with everything that is new, his new owner needs to be prepared and committed to building Enzo’s confidence overtime, taking time to ‘smell the roses’ and watch the world, making sure that Enzo is feeling safe.
Enzo is a clever little boy who learns quickly, he has learned his basic commands, has easily been toilet trained and taken to crate training quite well. Enzo has an active mind and likes to be kept amused, like all young German Shepherd, being mentally stimulated is extremely important. Enzo loves treat puzzles and enrichment toys, not only do these stimulate his brain and keep him out of mischief, but also help him to build confidence when he solves a problem and accomplishes his task.
Enzo is a petite boy, he doesn’t have much muscle tone in his back end, being confined to a pen at a puppy farm and then a kitchen your whole life doesn’t give much opportunity for muscles to grow and be used appropriately. Enzo has been x-rayed, the vet has determined he needs to continue to build up his muscle tone, this will happen overtime with consistent exercise, a good quality puppy food and some supplements to help promote general growth and health.
Enzo gets along well with other dogs, he was unsure of them at first, however now thinks that friendly dogs are the bees knees and does zoomies and play bows galore in delight at having a playmate. Enzo is currently in foster care with 3 other dogs and is respectful of them, we are looking for a home for Enzo that has an older large-breed dog to help Enzo face the world, a confident, friendly dog that can show Enzo the way would be ideal.
Enzo has previously lived with cats, he likes to chase them if they run but may be ok living with a confident cat with slow introductions.
Enzo would love to have someone home with him often, he enjoys human affection above all else and will happily spend the day cuddled up by his human’s feet while they work or snuggling on the couch. This gorgeous boy, despite all he has been through, is desperate for love and to build trust with the world, he just needs someone willing to show him how great life can be, who is committed to his ongoing exposure and socialization.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
Mature (1 year to 6 years) - $600
